Diabetes in itself is certainly not a contraindication of fasting. But insulin dependant diabetes especially needs to be monitored carefully during a fast. The need for insulin can and probably will fluctuate during a fast and mistakes can be made in allowing for those needs, mistakes that can and have proved fatal. So while fasting has proved beneficial to people with diabetes it should certainly be only considered under supervision.
