"And the argument as I've presented it is NOT biology vs. psychology: this dichotomy is part of where so much confusion comes in. The latest theorists are starting to notice this and are trying to teach it."
I agree totally as long as we agree on what "it" is...I assume you mean BOTH have a place. Agree.
But the problem comes when we don't recognize the difference between REAL mental/emotional issues -"i'm evil.""It is very ingrained in me the feeling of everyone hating me."
"Entering puberty i got lost, i had no identity, i felt everyone despised me, this brought on despise."
"I prefer staying alone, i always have. When i meet people, i 99% of the time feel i have nothing that would make them happy. I feel shallow, void and thin. When i was little i felt i lacked some knowledge all the other people knew. Something they heard, like a song they all were dancing to, all but me who walked around amputated of this motivation""Should i stay alone, living far away from people?"
"Now it seems i only have enough love for a cat, and even the cat is suffering." And further thinly veiled threats re/the cat -
...compared to "I'm depressed because my bf just broke up with me" depression.
The first example indicates a serious life-long struggle that we need to distinguish ffrom the latter, which only requires a little temporary support and inspirational words for a normal person. So yes, the point is to recognize the extent of the issue and act accordingly.
