Timeline:

May 2006 – “fibroids the size of a 4 ½ months fetus” identified by ultrasound. There must have been at least 2 since they used the plural, but I always felt they were 3. They would not give me additional info and I was too upset to ask. This is all I know. My mother had 3 operations, one on top of each other, for the same reason, and they kept coming back.

According to this site: http://www.babycenter.com/average-fetal-length-weight-chart, an 18 weeks baby is 5.59 inches (14.2cm) and weighs 6.7 ounces (190 grams). In some other website I no longer have, they were saying a 4 ½ months fetus is the size of a grapefruit. Just the idea of carrying 3 of those with you everywhere, all the time!!

Feb/Mar 2007 - started Iodine

Oct 2007 – I posted this: http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1021870#i

Jan 2008 – tricked my Dr. into referring me for a pelvic ultrasound while doing the breast ultrasound, just because I was very curious about the fibroids (I had many extremely unpleasant symptoms, to put it mildly, for many, many years, but after being on Iodine for a year, they gradually subsided to an acceptable level. Obviously, my presumption was the fibroids shrank, since the symptoms were much improved, but I wanted to know exactly HOW MUCH). My Dr's office got the ultrasound results and with respect to the fibroids, I was told the same thing I was told in 2006: they are “normal” – just let them be.

This time, I put pressure on them to give me photocopies of my ultrasound results (yes, I’m much less shy/more assertive now; it took my Dr’s office a month to do it, though).

Ta-da!!!! Here they are:

“There are fibroids present with the largest measured:

  1. Right posterior fundal: 3.8x3.8x3.7cm

  2. Left anterior intramural/subserosal: 2.7x2.7x2.7cm

  3. Posterior intramural: 4.6x4.5x4.1cm”

Now this is what I call good news. You do the math while I’ll do my little happy dance and keep working on shrinking what I still have left, into complete disappearance.

I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
