I have to agree w/ no biz. Don't go hunting for memories. The false memories are just as terrifying and horrific as actual ones. Not remembering ages 6-7 is not that odd. The pubic hair image could have been something like walking in on mom or dad in the bathroom, seeing a neighbor through a window, or seeing something on a movie. If you start therapy, be careful that you are guided through your life on your own. Don't let the therapist guide you to conclusions that they deem right. Your body will let you know what is right. Growing up with distant, dysfunctional, alcoholic / workaholic parents is enough to bring about abrupt personality changes and fears. Plus, who knows what some other kid, or a teacher, or a parent said about strange men sneaking around. That image may have stuck, creating its own image in your head.
Hang in there, and don't let those thoughts overwhelm you into believing, nor let other people convince you. Trust yourself.
