I haven't posted much lately, but I logged on and saw your post/question, so decided I'd answer you real 'quick like' :) I just did a flush Saturday night (it's been several months since I flushed) and the pictures of the results below (with a ruler) the images should more than answer your question and relieve your concern :::grin:::
Here's some more information that should give you plenty of comfort.
-- it is very unusual/rare when following a liver/gallbladder flush protocol that uses Epsom Salts to get ANY size stone stuck anywhere. The ES relaxes the ducts of the liver & gallbladder so that virtually any size 'anything' will easily go through.
-- if you are one of the very rare people that follow protocol to the letter and still end up having some pain, all you need to do is take 1 teaspoon - 1 tablespoon of additional Epsom Salts (chased by a tablespoon or two of olive oil about 30-45 after the ES) and that will relax the ducts enough for the bile created by the additional oil...to push whatever happens to be 'stuck' comfortably and easily through.
-- real doctors in real hospitals in the 1920's & 30's used Liver Flushing as a way to cleanse the liver and save people from gallbladder surgery. I have found evidence of this from the works of Dr. Kelley (whose Liver Flush protocol was taken from the protocol of Lahey Clinic/Boston during that time). Liver Flushing is nothing new, nor is it "quacky" or dangerous. Doctors at that time would never have admitted a person to the hospitals for something as simple as drinking olive oil & Epsom Salt water - so we can pretty much be assured it was considered a simple, outpatient procedure.
-- 'tis my educated/researched opinion that Liver Flushing fell out of favor when surgery became safer (and less people died regularly of infections & complications). Of course, there's absolutely no money to be made by hospitals & physicians by liver flushing - gallbladder removal is now the most common surgical procedure nationwide (or was last time I checked).
Here's the pictures (3 close-ups and and overall shot of the 'stones' from my most recent flush):
Also note: this is FAR from the 'full amount' of what was released; all the stones (hundreds) less than 1/16" fell through the holes in my colander - and there was approximately 1/2-1 cup full of slimey/sludge/chaff/ that is also absent from these pictures.
In addition, if this is your first flush, please be aware that's it's very possible (likely even) that you may release stones/sludge after taking the Epsom Salt doses BEFORE you ever ingest the oil (depending upon how large/pressing the volume of stones/sludge is in your gallbladder, and how much the Epsom Salt relaxes the ductwork). I just coached my husband's cousin through a few flushes/mini-flushes this last two weeks (she was in gallbladder distress and her MD was insisting she have it out).
Here's a quick run-down of what happened:
When she first called, she was really hurting, but didn't want to do a flush that night, so I advised her to take 1 tablespoon of ES in 6-8 ounces of water, and follow that with one tablespoon of olive oil...and explained the flush procedure and sent her links to read. She called me back in less than 10 minutes, totally out of pain for the first time in several weeks.
The next day, she did the Hulda Clark protocol flush, and released a large amount of debris and several stones after the second dose of ES; she took the oil that night and 2 doses of ES the next day (per protocol). She didn't count the stones or measure the size, but she had absolutely no pain and said the toilet was "full of 'em". She ate normally the rest of the day. After supper she phoned and said she was feeling a bit of pain; she took a teaspoon of ES and the pain disappeared.
She also had a bit of discomfort again the next evening, so she took another teaspoon of ES (which immediately relieved the pain), but she was a bit discouraged and asked for information options...and then again the third day after the flush. Basically/logically the very strong/likely possibility is that the gallbladder was emptied (or partially emptied) with the first flush, and then has refilled with liver debris from the initial flush (this returning discomfort is especially likely when the gallbladder is tender after being overfilled & stretched for a very long time)...hence she was still experiencing some discomfort. Also (in case you aren't aware of it), cleansing the liver/gallbladder is FAR from a "one flush thing"...many people hardly do more than loosen things up in the liver during the first few flushes, and it takes several to see copious amounts of liver debris. Add to that, that her discomfort was after the third meal for three days consistently after the first flush (and at the end of a long/busy day), so the liver had been actively producing bile daily (like usual) but now the bile was flowing better (because of the flush) and was possibly dumping debris that had been loosened during the flush, into her tender, overstretched gallbladder.
Options? Continue taking a teaspoon of Epsom Salts nitely until she determined if the pain would resolve itself in a few days - do a mini-flush (smaller amounts of Epsom Salts & oil using the same protocol/recipe), or do another full flush. She opted for a full flush...with exactly the same results. A LOT of debris after the 2nd dose of ES, but not as much debris after the oil - the next day. (Note: although almost all published protocols for liver flushing recommend doing them only every two weeks 'for general cleansing', there are MANY natural healers that have had patients in varying levels of distress flush more frequently...even several times a week. Of course, this is assuming the person is healthy in most regards and has no symptoms or difficulties during the initial & subsequent flushes).
During the next few days, she had one totally pain-free day, and all other days she had some level of discomfort after the evening meal....but she reported feeling better than she had in months. She also had been experiencing a LOT of gas/gas pain - activated charcoal tablets relieved the gas (a slurry made with the crushed tablets or activated charcoal powder is even more effective). (Note: due to the toxins and stale bile released from the liver during & after a flush, many times one will experience various 'unusual' symptoms - gas is very common ...as is more frequent bowel movements. Bile is our natural 'laxative' and causes peristalsis --the muscular squeezing action of the colon--). During this time, she also developed some aching in the mid-back region (especially when using her right arm). This is also typical of liver flushing, as that's almost always some level of liver congestion/discomfort...which is caused by disturbing all the compacted sludge, debris and 'stones' and moving them around into places they haven't had a chance to make a place for. After the aching in her back continued to worsen daily, she opted to do another full flush...seeing less debris from the initial Epsom Salt doses and more the next day after the oil.
It's been almost four days since her last flush, and she's been pain free since (although she still has some gas)...both her extreme gallbladder discomfort AND the liver tenderness/ache is totally gone - and she's TOTALLY PSYCHED! (as well she should be).
EDIT/UPDATE: After a day or two of being totally pain free (and full of relief) she had a return of the gallbladder discomfort. By this time she'd received her organic enema coffee bucket/set up from S.A. Wilsons, and she opted for a coffee enema rather than doing another flush. ****If you've never heard of a coffee enema, please see my *** note below this edit/update. (The thinking? The coffee enema, while effective for Liver Cleansing when done daily/consistently, would probably disturb less debris in the liver than a full flush...and she wanted to give her gallbladder a rest. If there was anyway to simply flush only the gallbladder (rather than doing a full flush and flushing more liver debris INTO the gallbladder) that's what she wanted to do. Those of us familiar with coffee enemas know that it IS possible to flush out debris with the enema, but of course, there's no way to know if that debris comes from the gallbladder only, or all the way from the liver.
SO, that night she did her first coffee enema (she made 4 cups of solution and got most of it in -good for a first enema!- and was able to retain it for almost 15 minutes -EXTREMELY good for a first enema!-. I can't remember if she added 1 or 2 tablespoons of ES to the solution, but I think it was one. (ES in an enema solution -by it's relaxation effect- actually makes it easier for the colon to retain the enema AND of course, it relaxes the biliary network making the bile flow more easily). When she expelled, there was all kinds of stones and debris from her gallbladder mostly (we know this, because it immediately relieved her gallbladder pain). Even though she experienced no more discomfort, she did another Coffee-Enema in a couple of days (to get the hang of it), and even more stones and debris were present.
She's now totally 'out of the woods' and is planning on doing occasional coffee enemas and a full flush every two weeks (until the amount of debris diminishes or she is stone free).
While I understand there are some that would never do that many flushes that quickly (generally because of 'fear' based on not having enough knowledge to know what they're doing and what to look out for), I also understand that healers like Dr. Schulze (and others of his experience) would have done exactly the same thing.
***At best, putting coffee up one's butt seems like TOTAL quackery. HOWEVER, the coffee enema was a standard protocol in the Merck Manual for cleansing the liver and curing 'fatty liver' up until the 1970's. (the Merck Manual is the "bible" for doctors on diagnostics & treatment). It was removed from the Merck Manual for 'space considerations' (I guess they needed to make room for money money making protocols, eh?) coffee enemas were discovered by field nurses in WWI as a pain reliever, and then the liver benefits were later discovered). Properly administered a coffee enema causes the liver to make more bile (hence cleaning it) and while the enema is retained, the liver becomes a 'free radical dialysis machine' and actually cleanses the bloodstream of free radicals. ***
My point? Learn about flushing, how it works, why it works (and how many healers, doctors and people have utilized it easily & successfully over the decades)...and you'll have ZERO problems and you'll not have to deal with fear, worry or stress (or pain). You don't need to expect that you'll have to do a bunch of flushes back-to-back (my husbands cousin's pain might have resolved itself in just a few days of taking ES in the evening without ever doing another flush). But she felt like her gallbladder had refilled with liver debris from the initial flushing, and she wanted to get it out (and could find/feel no reason not to go ahead and flush it out). She will be doing a flush every 2-3 weeks on a regular basis until the volume of stones/debris lessens, then she will flush four times a year for maintenance.
If you have any questions that I may be able to answer or help you with, don't hesitate to post (or email me).
'Hope this all helped you out some - 'sorry to be so long-winded but I'm of the mind that there's no such thing as too much information...especially when it comes to natural health & healing.
Knowledge IS the key to vibrant health.
Flush ON!

P.S. Oh yes, it's a VERY good idea to do a 'test run' with the Epsom Salts before doing the actual flush - it's really good to know how your body will react to the ES (i.e., how long it might take for the 'butt pee' to arrive, how it will make you feel, etc). Knowing how you're going to react to the ES before you do the flush takes a LOT of the stress (and possibly fear) out of flushing. AND, if you're experiencing pain, the ES is very likely to give you some relief.
