What I find interesting is the tone of the women in the article - the feeling that something is wrong with them because they are not a virgin. The one woman in particular who said her future husband deserves a "whole person". If you ask me, not being a virgin does not make you less than a whole person! And you don't see (never have seen) men running around all worried about the fact that THEY are not virgins! So, I think the problem lies not in the fact that these women are no longer virgins, but rather that they cannot accept themselves for what they are - probably wonderful women, even tho they are non-virgins. But, ok, ok, I can look past the philosophical/religious differences (tho it is hard, very hard, as so much of this smacks of subservience, sexism, oppression, and on and on. . . ) All that aside, can one simply decide they are a virgin again? Even if one is surgically reconstructed to be one again? I say no. That train has permanently left the station on the day of the first penetration. One cannot take back their first sexual encounter. Once one has had the experience of having sex, one is forever no longer a virgin, imho. I think the whole re-virginization movement is a bunch of ka-ka. Interesting post!
