It's interesting that you use the phrase "create peace". We CAN/should (have the ability/option) to do as our creator (create, we should be aware that we can "productively change" a situation).

God is light. It is that "light" that shows everything for what it really is. In that way, He (so should His beloved offspring) CREATES evil where there was thought to be none (we can also create peace, we don't always choose wisely). Peace is only peace because of the contrast (opposite). It is our preference is that The Lord sees (there have been way too many people all throughout history who have made the wrong choice). Words are human tools (tools of human nature) and are often used in different contexts and have different meanings or don't translate accurately from different languages (such as Greek), so we can't actually "create" peace, only "MAKE" peace (I've found that The Lord uses words accurately (man doesn't). The Lord didn't come to "BRING" peace/OF MIND (to each person so we could continue to do whatever we want regardless of it's merit), but to introduce/create a division between right and wrong (good and evil)....

so we must always be aware of the clear distinction between war and heavenly peace.

I understand that you have a dilemna (I have military people in my extended family). I have known many people that were in the military, but I take people at 'face value', if they are good, decent people TODAY (nowadays), that's all I know and care about and we'll get along fine. What they have done in the past or will do in the future, THE LORD will judge by looking at their heart and seeing if they really believed they were acting for the greater good. If it does strike their conscience that what they did in the past was wrong, they are responsible not to REPEAT (they should REpent) those actions, if not, The Lord will judge rightly.

The Police PROTECT the public (in modern times, go figure!??), but in war (INVADING a country), who knows all the politics?, The Lord judges.

Of course it was an act of love to want to defend your family and other soldiers, but using The Lord's crucifixion (The Lord will explain this to you) to defend WAR (defend family, not war) was wrong and WRECKLESS (having no regard/respect for The Lord's gift to humanity...this is "predatory"), but that is in the past now. Have a conversation with Him and He will explain.

Just to set things straight (so you don't take it personally), I don't "CALL people names" (neither do I "CALL" water WATER, it IS water), your comparison to the crucifixion WAS predatory ("WAS" is PAST tense), but now that you understand, a simple apology to The Lord should suffice.

You are subordinate to no man (except your Dad and Mom), no person should ever "test" your spiritual relationship or make you feel that you should CONFORM to theirs (1 Corinthians 15:28). Covet YOUR "personal" relationship. Modern Christianity should take GREAT CARE in observing someone else's relationship with God (pastors, teachers, etc. should tread softly, if at all), for they are also interfering with The Lord's relationship with YOU (beyond a certain point, Godly Christians should learn to walk with The Lord on their own two feet).
