Hi, I just joined this site and don't have time to read all the knowledge, info. and experiences related to Costochondritis. My mother has this and it really scares me. When she gets it, she's layed up in bed in excruciating pain. She's been dealing with this on and off for probably 30 years. Dr. appts. in and out of state, tests, emergency room visits, procedures, self treatments, diagnosed with costo. fibromyalgia, heart and hernia concerns with procedures proved useless as there's no sign of heart disease or trouble, and I've heard her mention when she takes pain and anti inflammatory meds that she's been tempted to take the full bottles and can't endure it anymore...it's that bad, it's been too long. When it goes away, she's great, active and happy like it was never there. Sometimes it goes a year without pain, other times it's few times a year and I wonder if there's any relatively immediate form of relief. She's tried different things and recos. throughout the years as you can imagine. We hoped a recent procedure would've finally taken care of this--she needed it anyway, but it didn't. It came back this weekend. When I get a call that she's having these chest pains, I feel hopeless and know she's feeling the same, and worse. It's scary. Is there some breakthrough on this or tried and true remedy, preferably quick one, that someone here can suggest based on all your research and knowledge and experience. I know she's seen and heard it all over the last 30 years she's dealt with it but never used the internet or looked to others in a similar situation. Any advice would be appreciated. It sounds like it's really something you have to deal with but that's just too hard to accept.
