It was the first time I read about it. I received it in an email.

I thought it was a great idea, especially if you live with an elderly person that you worry about falling, and they like to go outside.

There has been some elderly people that have been beaten and robbed in the Walmart parking lot where I live, even though there are cameras outside!

It certainly would have drawn a lot of attention to the parking lot if a car alarm was sounding off. I know I look around every time I hear an alarm in a parking lot.

Nobody likes to see an elderly person beat on. I know I would be there as fast as I could run to help an elderly person or any other person in that situation.

I think in some cases, it might even be worth ordering an extra alarm from the manufacturer, and just put a handy clip on it to hang on a belt loop, button hole or just to carry around in a clothes pocket for elderly people that are usually in signal range of the car.
