Add to that the following fact that your vibrational level at where you were at that moment might not have made you strong enough to withstand an assault on your emotional level thus lowering your vibrational level.

Your example with the voice means that you still haven't let go of the ex fully.

Look at the analogy with my suggestion about reading/watching books/movies.
