Um...after only 5 months?
First off, sure he's got a problem; and I'm sure his parents were aware of it before.
But after only 5 months, going to his parents about your problems doesn't sound like a very good idea...let alone contacting ex girlfriends.
If you keep doing things like that, you won't have to worry about him leaving you because he'll sober up and leave you himself.
