It is understood that stuttering could be connected with some event in childhood... At three years old it could very hard to remember such an event. It could very well be connected with something in past life. In either case, this may be difficult to remember to help in resolving the stuttering problem.
You may want to look at your dreams as a way of remembering such events.
Many times dreams are a way for the unconscious mind to try to bring deeply seated trama events to their natural conclusion. Even those events that you may not consciously be able to recall. Dreams that are repeated usually are the ones that have such a relevance.
So, try keeping a journal of your dreams next to you bed. At moments of waking, before the dreams have completely dissolved away, start to write down what was last remembered in the dream state. It works in this way: Your dream is like a white elephant, if you can catch the tail of the elephant, then the rest of the elephant comes along with it...
There is also the tendency of putting too much tension on trying to not stutter. Like what invincible says: it is basically a way the body-bind mechanism has for protecting itself... an attempt to try to prevent harm from coming due to some event that it had experienced in the past. It is natural. And it is good that the body is moving to protest itself. There is nothing wrong in it. It is a survival mechanism.
So, to not fight with the body-mind with this, try to practice stuttering (instead of not stuttering) try to consciously stutter. Practice in becoming the best stutter-er that you can possibly be. Make it a play and not a work. Try to trip over each and every word. Set a timer and do it for 10-15 minutes first thing in the morning. After the buzzer goes off then sit and enjoy just sitting, watching your breath, listen to the sounds and just enjoy this moment of aloneness. And watch whatever comes up in the mind without making a judgement. Just be a witness for another 10-15 minutes.
Try this for a few weeks to see what comes out of this.
Best regards and peace to you.
