The progress happens when you convince him to be a better person in relationship. AA meetings are only a replacement for alcohol. He needs to change within himself.
It is his problem. You can be supportive but he is in the driver’s seat to make your relationship either succeeding or failing!
It is good that you have his parents on your side. I can see that you have a good change to succeed.
