This point you make about hypnotism can be applied to many other things also. Cleaning out the garbage in our minds can make them open to suggestion there's no doubt in my mind about that. It is a tool used by many new age modalities (which no doubt you'd label all occult) but which was ultimately learned and copied from religions. The very concept of baptism is to clean your spirit of all unchristian history and present a clean slate for the new religion to write on. The fact is that using your definitions christianity is just another occultic practice that demands purging when a cleansing ritual is performed. To protect yourself from the purging of your primative beliefs you label all practices that could possibly make you see the truth as evil.

Live and let live. Leave people alone to find their own Way. My mind was totally shredded by being brought up a catholic and being indoctrinated to belief in the hypocritical words of the bible was one of the main reasons for that. You choose which words of the bible suit you and disregard the rest, allow others the freedom God is supposed to have given us all to do the same.
