This so describes the life of our dogs here.
They make the rounds of the neighbors...one
neighbor brought home one dog the other day
as he was opening his truck bed for his dog
but mine jumped in to. Its rather remote and
they live for the excitement of people coming
down the road. They use any excuse for running
and often come home stinking to high heaven
or soaking wet from swimming in one of the
numerous ponds.

The other day, my black lab showed up home
covered in mud and he came up to me and laid
down and rolled over. His belly was covered
with lateral scratches which looked mightily
weird to me. My neighbor came to look and
said my big boy, who is typically the alpha
dog in these parts, got into a fight with a
bobcat. Obviously he lost. It took quite a
while to get the big guy into the bath tub
to get the wounds clean and the mud off but
once he was in, I like to think, that was
when he fell in love with me all over again.
I lovingly washed him all up and settled him
down in front of the fire to dry.

Yepper, I think if you have to live a dog's
life, the life of a country dog would be
the one to have. Especially if you have a
home with a soft bed and a bowl of yummy
crunchies and fresh water to come home
to.

blessings,
Zoe
