I knew I was cured because I felt very good, full of energy, strong, able to exercise full speed, to work long hours, to handle anything, physically and mentally.
I noticed that, when I have candida, not only I am weak physically but mentally as well. I have weak, painful muscles and brain fog--it's gettin better now--but I tend also to make mountains out of molehills and fuss and be scared of things I wouldn't even notice when healthy.
Candida turns me into a scaredy cat, if you see what I mean, everything becomes a daunting task, while I am sort of daredevil in my normal state...

And I did not do anything special to get well the first times. The very first time was 20 years ago--I wrote the 400some pages of my PhD thesis and did the research in 8 months, while holding a full time job--I finished in time but after I was done,I physically collapsed. I was sick for 2 years, candida was an unknown diagnosis at the time--and no internet. The only thing I used instinctively was baking soda.
The second time was in 95; this time I began to have allergies, to foods but most severely to drugs--antihistamines, Antibiotics sent me to the ER.
This last time, my allergies are nearly universal--all the typical substances that are supposed to kill candida--garlic,pau d'arco, coconut oil, you name it, I tried them all--give me mild to severe reactions--it's not die off.
So I just do salt water cleanses, baking soda, slippery elm and frankly, I don't think they make a huge difference--most of all I avoid allergenic foods.
Still,I am getting better progressively.
IMHO, even if you don't do anything, your body should get better on his own, if you stop doing what led you to have candida in the first place of course. In my view, Candida is only the by-product of something else, just a symptom.
Anyway, based on what I have seen on this forum, there is no miracle cure, and people having systemic candida who stuff themselves with drugs and supplements don't seem to heal faster than me.
one thing candida teaches you is to be humble--we cannot be in control all the time, sometime the best we can do is just get out the way.
All in all, there is a positive message in my story ;-D--wether you ingest drugs/sups or not, you should heal anyway--just make sure to remove yourself from what started the problem in the first place--stress in my case...
