I tend to think this kind of thinking (above) maybe is one of mankinds main problems atm...
mankind has seen in the past that we can keep on raping our earth with excess waste from our ever piling list of techno toys & chemicals & our high excessive standards of living. Coupled with killing each other in bigger & more destructive wars & getting away with it(or with most damage from more recent wars constrained to 3rd world level countries so far anyway )...
So we ultimately come to believe we can get away with anything /that we are indestructible ...& that there really is a big free lunch at the end of the Universe.

Universal laws are based on solid mathematics ...our universe may seem infinite (with current technology)...but our spacesuit that protects us from the harsh reality of the universe ..our earth,.. is definitely finite.
