It was an honor to be alive during a time when
Martin Luther King was alive and you could hear
him speak on television. News was covered back
then, even if it was not popular or politically
correct...Martin lit a fire that many of us still
carry a torch from.
I believe in teaching a child how to learn
which is different than educating them. My kid
was smart enough to have been culled into a special
program which really emphasized this. Once I saw
how wonderful that was, it made me want that for
all of the other students that were not included.
I argued for it but of course the superintendent
of schools argued against it citing the costs.
I would rather my taxes go for teaching a child
to learn rather than teaching a child to kill when
they come of age to become a student of the military.
I miss Martin, and long to hear someone who is as
passionate as he was about our country and the
values he worked to emphasize. I imagine that is
why he could not be allowed to continue...he hit
a nerve that brought people to their feet, to march
and cry out for justice and freedom. There are few
in politics who can or would fill his shoes...
