Don't you think the emphasis should be on what actually causes autism (i.e. genetic causes) so that we can diagnose and treat these children as soon as possible, and focus our attention and research funds on preventing autism in the future? The vaccine "link" has been studied exhaustively, and the evidence is overwhelming that thimerosal and vaccines have not caused autism. It's time to stop wasting resources on placating antivaxers, who'll never be satisfied no matter what the evidence shows.

Vaccine makers are required by law to disclose vaccine constituents. Government health agencies are among the biggest buyers of vaccines, and their requirements are strict. Thimerosal was not used as a vaccine preservative after 2001. Autism rates have continued to climb. Vaccines were not responsible.

If some are determined to blame chemical exposure, why aren't they honing in on other sources, including all manner of trace exposures to household chemicals, pesticides and other things used on a daily basis? Why are they so obsessed with vaccines, which have saved countless lives?
