I took ampicillin in the distant past and ended up needing repeated rounds, which completely messed up my digestive system.

I'm not a fan of Antibiotics and avoid them at all costs. There is a price to pay as they also wipe out the good bacteria. If you continue with the ampicillin, you might consider probiotics to re-introduce good flora.

Have you tried using a netti pot with oil of oregano or saline?

I take copious amounts of vitamin c when fighting an infection (best taken with a mineral buffer like in the form of calcium ascorbate), with good results.

When treating an infection holistically, it's important to treat any microbe-killing protocol like you would anbiotics, taking them at regular intervals throughout the day for an extended period of time. Olive leaf extract, oil of oregano and Iodine are all in my collection and have served me well.
