if the tooth is abcessed, it will not revive and it will need pulled. but, if it is just irritated, the first thing to check is the bite. if the bite is ok, then perhaps a medicated (ZOE) filling can be put in and it should calm down. then, in 2 months or so, a regular filling can be put back in.
