Last year when my daughter was 15 she was having problems with her period. I took her to an ob/gyn. As soon as we checked in at the desk the receptionist began asking my daugher questions about who they were allowed to inform of her condition, etc., etc. I said, "Excuse me, I'm her mother." She told me that it didn't make any difference. The law says that as soon as she walks through that door she is emancipated in their office. After I collected my jaw from the floor I said, "I"M HER MOTHER!" She said that so many girls couldn't talk to their parents about certain things and the law says that she is emancipated when she walks through that door. Then my daugher had to fill out a form naming who the dr's office had the right to speak to about my condition. They would not speak with me. I live in NJ. Stick a fork in us, people. We're done.
