that is not my understanding. i understand it to be of the strongest and longest lasting of filling materials on the market
DiamondCrown Polymer Composite is a microhybrid composite restorative material, internally reinforced, does not require metal or fibre reinforcement in order to surpass the strength of other metal-free-poly-glass systems.
DiamondCrown is a unique biomimetic micro-crystalline PEX based system, unlike BisGMA and UDMA systems, which are amorphous in structure and inherently brittle. The crystalline structure of all Diamond products offers properties similar to tooth such as macro-toughness and micro-elasticity with wear rate similar to natural tooth. To take full advantage of this innovation it is recommended to use the DiamondBond Adhesive System and DiamondLink (Luting Agent and flowable dual-cured composite).
The only way to verify the biological and physico-mechanical properties of a given material is through extensive testing. Manufacturers who test their products accordingly can provide the users and the consumers with the tests results in order for them to ascertain that the material have a GOOD BALANCE of properties, both biological and physico-mechanical. A weak material or a poorly biocompatible one is to be avoided. At the same time a material should be kind to the natural dentition with a wear rate and hardness identical to the natural tooth. Compare the properties of DiamondCrown, DiamondLite and DiamondBond with other commonly used dental materials.
