Ah... this is key. Somewhere in your bonding where you were sympathzing with her and she appeared to be trying to get help from you, you projected some of your higher standards on her that she is not able to live up to. It's so easy for us to have people try to live up to our standards and if they are high, we come down on ourselves for not doing the same.

I can see how you would be hurt initially, but read my other post - this is all on her, not about you at all. I think it's possible to care for very flawed people, but to do so without being hurt means to understand and accept their flaws at the same time. Their flaws will always come back at you if the situation is right, and visa-versa, yaknow? Glad you're feeling lovely now. :)
