The difference between a tubal ligation and hysterectomy is that with a t.l. everything remains intact. A hysterectomy your whole baby factory is taken out. I had the partial done, so that my ovaries are still intact. When a friend had the hysterectomy done, she went into full blown menopause. I did not...had some mood swings, for a couple months. After which I 'evened' out and have not had any issues (that I am aware of) since.
IMO, if your doing this for birth control, a tubal ligation appears to be the best option. It doesn't 'mess' with your hormones...or didn't in my case.
