Presently, rhodium is over $ 6000 US per ounce, which is 31.1 grams. That's about $ 200 per gram.

So, if brains are 5% by weight of rhodium, then 100 grams of dry weight brain would contain five grams of rhodium, or $ 1000 worth.
That's about $ 4500 per pound of cow brain.
Now, do we really believe that cow brains have $ 4500 worth of precious metal in them ????
Oh, the authors state that it's in a "high spin state", so you can't get it out. Sure, I believe it. Sounds like something for Ripley's Believe it or Not. Sea water contains 1 ppm of gold and the lucky person who figures out a way to get it out will be rich.
I reviewed Hudson's writings several years ago, particularly his patent application. It had wrong information in it. I know more about precious metal chemistry than Hudson ever did. Interested students would want to start with "Recovery and Refining of Precious Metals" by Ammen, perform the procedures and then let's talk about how full of bad cabbage Hudson was.
