Once annually, I stayed up all night to balance the books for our year end in a store we owned.

Always, certain things would happen...I would balance easily, around 4 a.m...tidy and store all the unneeded papers...and begin to clean up the summaries for the accountants.

That's when I knew I had to be careful that I didn't transpose figures, or write a zero for a five...and have to look for my error.

I've also noticed when falling asleep in front of the TV, that the story on the set becomes entirely different from the picture in my mind's eye...or vice versa.

Those are times when I could easily say Joe, when I mean Harry...and Joe has been dead these twenty years.

Do you see what I mean, Ralph?
