yes i'm afraid so. i lost vision in my left eye in 1989 from it. the causes vary but in my case, there was an outbreak of histoplasmosis in the Ohio Valley where i grew up and it left scars in my eyes that ruptured. sometimes the scars can be treated by laser or steroids, though both failed for me. just went to a retinologist on friday who told me that there is a new non-steroid drug that they use but the only way they can deliver it to the problem area even now is by injection. it was/is a horrible experience, but it's better than going blind. good luck!
