Dream: I was in a forest. I was diggin up soil from around a root of a tree.
It was good dirt and I needed it. The root seemed to move,
shift as I took soil away from under it
seeming to settle down to get back in contact with the ground.
I worried that perhaps I was harming the tree and began to
push dirt back around the root. Then I looked around for more dirt.
Not sure if I wanted it for myself or the tree.
I saw what looked like a couple of hairy mushrooms.
I nudged one with my foot, thinking to knock it over.
It and the other "mushroom" moved, along with a large mass
which was in the shadows. I realized these "mushrooms"
were the hairy knobby joints of a huge spider!
I backed off and turned to see a female who said,
"It's ok, she only came here to lay her eggs."
Now I worry that I may have gathered spider eggs
along with the dirt I'd taken.
The first thing I noticed about this dream is that it's a participation dream.
In so many of my dreams I'm just an observer.
I'm in a natural setting gathering dirt cause I need it.
I take this to be recognizing my need to be "grounded"
and nourished, but worry about taking away from
something else (the tree) which has a rightful place here.
In looking for other sources of dirt I disturb a huge spider.
Spiders can be positive or negative forces, depending on your perspective.
I backed off giving this one her space.
The female in the dream tries to reassure me (the spider's not out to get you)
Still I worry about inadvertently bringing part of it home with me.(the eggs)
I'm thinking that the spider represents a feminine creative ability.
That I contain this ability in myself, without having to "borrow from
Peter to pay Paul", so to speak.
This dream also addresses the way I constantly worry.
So this is what I see in this dream. Care to share?
