I knew when I made the post that it would open up the door for potshots. Go ahead, they deserve some shots for that ad. However, to say it is over is just wishful thinking. It is far from over, but the ad is a mistake and should be changed.
Am I to take it that you favor rounding up 20 million people and deporting them? Not hardly practical. But the flow has to be stopped sometime if we are to survive and maintain a decent standard of living. The same for printing more money and waging aggressive wars and the same for continued erosion of liberties. All of which are points that are well made.
Roe versus Wade? Tough call, especially from a constitutional standpoint. If life does not begin at conception, what exactly is a growing human lifeform? It is alive and it will someday be a fully grown human unless robbed of that possibility. Hard call to make, but really hard to support federal funding of taking away that life. And I bet you see the other candidates tread very carefully on using sound bites on that issue - the country is pretty evenly split on the issue.
In actuality, if Ron Paul had the prolife vote firmly in his corner he would likely triumph over a mixed field in any primary. But I think it is ultimately a bad move to let that issue become a primary one and it is far from the primary message of his campaign: smaller government and a return of lost freedoms.
At any rate, the point of my post is to get supporters of Ron Paul to voice their concern. If it also provides an opening for potshots, so be it.
