So, we are in exactly the same boat. When I was in the hospital the Dr. had me sent in for a HIDA scan because he wanted to see if they should take out my GB. It came back functioning at 44% which is great as far as I'm concerned. When I had the sphincterotomy 2 years ago my hida scan was 11%. So, I think my GB is really working. I just need to clean it out.

I also think that my Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction isn't entirely to blame either because of the good hida scan numbers. I think I had a gall stone stuck in the duct. It is possible that just the pancreatic sphincter was tight. But because my pancreatitis went away after I stopped aggravating it, I think it was a stone.

Well, don't be afraid to take more Epsom Salts than a pinch. Two capsules is working for me now, 3-4 times a day.

And I totally understand about your Mom. And that's my big fear, ending up with chronic diarrhea. My Mom is also the same way about Drs (I've learned the hard way). I tried to get her to do some exercises for her carpal tunnel, but she said "The Dr. says I need surgery". OK, whatever. :)
