Actually, it is Mary Schindler's attempt to sanitize daughter Suzanne's dicey marital history that is one of my favorite flat-out lies in the Schindlers' "Terri" book. On page 85, Mary writes (referring to early February 2000), "Suzanne was a stockbroker for TD Waterhouse by day and a wife and mother at night."

Not true. Suzanne Schindler Carr and her first husband, Daniel, were divorced on 2/29/96 in Palm Beach County, FL. Apparently feeling no great loss in his life, Daniel Carr remarried on 11/30/96...9 months later. By early 1997, Suzanne Carr and her boyfriend were sharing a home with Suzanne's then-3-year old daughter from her first marriage. Suzanne Carr and Michael Vitadamo, the man she had been living with for about 7 years, were married on 3/5/04.

Contrary to what Mary Schindler might wish was true--or might wish that others would believe to be true--in early February 2000, Suzanne Schindler Carr was certainly a mother, but she was not a "wife," at least not in the eyes of either the law or the Catholic Church, and I'm guessing that her mama knew better, too.

Now, frankly, Suzanne's history of extra-marital fornication and cohabitation doesn't bother me, personally, a bit. I couldn't care less if Suzanne Schindler Carr Vitadamo was a nun or the easy-peazy fan-dancing queen of one of Joe Redner's Bay area strip clubs, walking the Ybor City main drag on her nights off. Nope, I couldn't care less.

But for the Schindler family to have the unmitigated gall and hypocrisy to point a bony holier-than-thou finger at Michael Schiavo and Jodi Centonze, and to cloak themselves (including Suzanne and Bobby) in some aura of "devout Catholicism" just pretty much pissed me off...let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and all that.
