Tumeric helps reduce scarring. Lavendar speeds the healing of burns. Vitamin E and aloe vera are also helpful. Now that you've started the process, it's important to go ahead and take care of the wound properly, as you were instructed. Clean it twice daily, keep it covered, etc. It won't look too bad once the eschar comes out and the hole fills in with scar tissue. It will be much better in a couple of weeks. Sorry to hear he is going through this with a spot on his face. I had a big one that went really deep on my neck. The healing process lasted for two months. If I could do it over, I would definitely choose another method of treatment.
