Early on when Synthroid made me better, but not well, I asked to switch to Armour. Unfortunately, after only a few weeks on Armour, I developed an apparent allergy to something in Armour...racing heart and an ugly rash--both disappeared when I stopped taking Armour. I was totally disappointed. I have to have Cytomel; without it productivity falls to zilch and I gain weight on air. But something else is still missing. It's as if I'm not getting the full benefit of my medication even though I'm on B-Vitamins, iron, etc., and avoiding processed, artificial foods, and fluoride.

I'm yet hopeful that Iodine will be that missing something. I'm following the advice in above posts and they are correct, I needed salt. I'm taking the recommended supplements and will try pulse dosing Iodoral. Wednesday was a much better day.

I know I'm experimenting on my own body, but I truly believe I just need to find the right combination of supplements and the appropriate doses to get my life back. My meds lower my TSH down to +/- 1.5 and that's pretty much all doctors care about. I could accept their "Oh well..." if I didn't have some spectacular "sunny days" once in a while to remind me that my health can and should be better.

A little venting here...but, my bouncing-off-the-wall Chocolate Lab turned into a couch potato last summer. He was immediately tested for thyroid disease...was diagnosed hypothyroid, and his meds contain both T4 and T3--right off the bat. In less than one week, he was tested, diagnosed, and receiving the gold standard of thyroid meds whereas I, a human, had to endure for years to get to the same point. I'm happy for our four legged friends, but quite sad for myself and others who struggle with thyroid disease. Thank heavens for the Internet, for resources like Cure Zone, and for the good people like yourself who offer their assistance.
