If Ron Paul somehow miracously manages to get elected he will essentially be a lone gun in Washington. The Democrats certainly aren't going to vote for his legislation (with the exception of Iraq) and his Republican support would probably be pretty tepid at best. That doesn't mean that people who support him shouldn't vote for him, but to call him a longshot would be an understatement.
