Here's the deal with genital HSV1, if you already have it orally, then you're very unlikely to get it genitally since you have existing antibodies from the oral infection to protect you against a new infection genitally. If you remember having cold sores, as opposed to canker sores inside your mouth, you're OK. Even if you don't remember cold sores, there's a good chance that you have the virus asymptomatically since by the time adults reach middle age, about 75% or more of the population has oral HSV1.
The people at greatest risk of getting genital HSV1, almost always through oral sex, are the younger folks who don't have OHSV1. About 1/3 of diagnosed genital herpes cases in recent years are type 1.
