How long has the problem being going on for?
he has had the problem for about eight months. i admit he did have fleas so i put some store bought flea stuff eight months ago. it was a small tube of liquid stuff you squeeze out in a line down his back. it made him so sick for about 3 days and he lost alot of hair. i now put tree oil on him. i have not seen any fleas. he used to have seasonal type allergies. he would only scratch in the spring and fall. i dont think he has anxiety issues because he is so layed back with our kids. he is only three but he acts like an old man.
What type of diet do you feed your dog?
i feed him the cheap purina beneful. he has not had Antibiotics . we called a vet and described the problem. the vet said it could be sebbhoric dermatitis. he wanted to give him some kind of medicine that would make him really sick and said it would be about $ 350.00.
i googled yeast problems and saw some similarities. i could easily be totally wrong. for the past 5 days i have been spraying him with 50/50 apple cider vinegar and he does not scratch anymore. his skin also looks moist and pinkish color now. he still has a little bit of flaking on the back of his neck, not as much as there was. i feel bad i let it go this far but i want to do everything i can to get his skin healthy. i cannot afford real expensive dog food . i appreciate any suggestionns anyone has.
Are there emotional issues that might cause this? (like anxiety? i dont think so.
