I understand that it works for 12 hours, almost like time released. After 2 hours, chlorine dioxide will turn to table salt or hypochlorous acid; unless it has encountered a bad pathogen where it is destroyed along with the pathogen. However the buffering, done by adding the 4 oz. juice or water, must help some to release slower.
