Karen,

I also think that I have a proclivity toward health/alt health addiction to a degree! And know what you mean about food issues -- I can obsess about food a great deal despite the fact that I am pretty thin -- and both mental states can remind me a lot of other substance abuse I have committed...smoking for me was a powerful balancer and antidepressant and very good friend to boot (I quit when I found out I was pregnant, with twins, and after they were born I was nursing...but I have been known to smoke an occasional American Spirit since then.)

Try to find some of Trapper's posts that mention his smoking -- he has a pretty levelheaded take on it (i.e. he smokes but is also awfully healthy in my opinion). You can leave a post for him at the Iodine Supplementation forum, and you can go into one of his posts and pull up his history and look through his old posts. I know there are some here at OP, and probably zillions at Iodine. Another smoker is Hanna, who like Trapper is one of the most experienced and wisest people here at Curezone.

As for oil pulling, Larry is right -- coconut oil will keep your pearly whites at their whitest. And I will say that OP for me has been a great provider of clarity and calm -- I don't think Larry was chastising you at all for your decision, although I understand what it is like to feel criticized for smoking as my father for years would bring it up over and over again.

My personal opinion is that I would rather be a smoker who is taking iodine, OP'ing, Vitamin C (very important for smokers to get extra to keep energy up) etc. and who has completed Cleansing 101 (liver/kidney cleanses, parasite cleanses) and who eats carefully and well than a non-smoking consumer of Standard American Diet and allopathic medications. I'll always maintain that smoking and using illegal drugs and drinking didn't do as much harm to me as scads of antidepressants and other chronic-condition medications.

This is a pretty laid back forum and you can rest assured that nobody is trying to attack you. I think Larry was approaching you in the spirit of helpfulness rather than judgement with EFT advice, if you want to take another look at his post. My best strategy with my dad was always to say, "I am OK where I am right now, and I'm sorry you don't like that." (Or, at a couple of really bad points, "It's not very fun for me to see you obsess about my smoking, so maybe we can get together another time" -- then leave!)

Best,

Laura
