Blood ph yes but how does it do this? To maintain the critical blood ph without sufficient mineral stores the body has to 'give' somewhere. People end up with digestive, urinary, bone degeneration etc. Otherwise why do people develop osteoporosis, arthritis, cystitis, even depression, cancer etc? All these are affected by ph balance within the cells.
WG: But what sufficient mineral stores? Sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium are alkali metals that are not interchangeable. Yes, alkalinity is an attribute, it is in the nature of these substances, and it is needed by the body just like acidity is neede, but these nutrients are not, not interchangeable. You don't view them through the spectrum of acid/alkaline and imagine that tells you what what the spectrum of their biochemical effects are. You can be deficient in magnesium at the same time you have an abundance of calcium, and you will suffer the consequent effects of being deficient in magnesium.
When you eat for health, you eat to get adequate nutrients that your body needs. You can't mix and match alkaline nutrients, or acidic nutrients, to fulfill some criterion of 60% alkaline/40% acidic and think that will give you good health.
