What you're explaining now really doesn't have much to do with the "alkalize or die" thesis. If your body is low in potassium, then you can eat foods like potatoes, bananas, and melons which are high in potassium. It doesn't make high intake of sodium a good thing to boost pH (sodium is very alkaline, although not so much as potassium).

This sentence in particular:

"unnatural 'fast' foods - overly processed, nutrient deficient, chemical-laden, damaged fats, refined sugars etc that cause the excess acidity."

With everything you just described in fast foods, do you really think that the problem with these foods is that they lead to excess acidity? The body can regulate pH balance pretty easily (within reason). It can't make up for a lack of nutrients that need to come from the outside, or get rid of many other toxins so easily. I mean, we'd all wish that the deleterious effects of sweets could be fixed by taking a calcium and magnesium supplement, but it doesn't work like that.

If I had an acid diet of meats, whole grains, plums, legumes, and cranberry juice, would I be better off than someone whose diet was equally acid from eating fast foods?
