NAC is less prone to auto-oxidation than cysteine and more intracellularly active.
This is why Hulda Clark only recommends L-Cysteine for 6 weeks or so, while NAC can be taken for longer. To mop up heavy metals and stuff L-Cysteine is cheaper but for long term usage, specifically to protect glutathione in cells, R+Lipoic is better but much more expensive.
