In his book UNINFORMED CONSENT, Hal Huggins cited a Coors sponsored study showing that mercury was implicated in an increased incidence of irregular cholesterol levels in people with dental fillings. Since the pituitary gland regulates cholesterol and mercury levels in the pituitary have been found to be higher in than other parts of the brain (by autopsy) there is evidence for a theory that mercury inhibits pituitary function.
The Europeans have done some advanced research on the subject. One cannot rely on American studies alone.
