I have pondered the same questions and so has my husband.
Our lives are about half way over but there is still much to live and experience with a wiser person living inside our bodies. My husband still believes he has not decided what he wants to be when he grows up.
So we move on with our lives not with the same view we had in our 20's but knowing we can make our wishes become reality and don't waste too much time doing it.
We don't dwell too much on religion, gov't, philosophies of life and conspiracy theories any more, because to quote my husband, "we left that stuff behind in the 70's"....we know and believe this stuff and have formed our opinions about these things.
So knowing what we know, we think how can we pass this wisdom and survival skills onto our adult children and grandchildren....as these copy us and watch us.
OUr adult children have gone through their teen years, young adult syndrone, know it all stage, and "whoa" my children are growing up, etc, etc,
We pass on what we know, directly teach our grandchildren, and try to live in such a way that we and they will benefit from. Boy, they are so much smarter in living skills than my husband and I were at the same age but much more immature in other ways that is a direct result of the world attitudes about "me-isms"...
I really think our grandchildren are going to be the big winners in this...as MH is about 50 and having such young children (instead of grandchildren at this point of his life) and look how they will benefit from their father/mother's years of living experience and views.
In the Bible a male wasn't considered a man until about 30 years old and many didn't marry until their 40's....as many women know, that is when men (40's) become well grounded. Noah didn't become a father until sometime in his 500's...
Anyway, that is my husband's view and mine, and look forward to many more to come.
