Hi,
I had a horrible experience with Alpine several years back. Something very similar with one of their direct sales offices - I was supposed to have 10 days under the Consumer Protection Act to test the product and finalize the purchase, but the delivery slip I signed actually said I received the item 4 days earlier than I did.
So when I called to send the machine back (it definitely wasn't working as well as it should have been), they said I was OVER the ten day period. Stupid of me to sign that little slip without double checking but a scam nonetheless.
I have had very good experiences with Saviar. i've used their product for a couple of years now and it does a bang-up job. I'm buying one for my brother for Christmas (he just had a new baby) on ebay right now.
Ebay's the way to go as far as I'm concerned, because you have up to 30 days to file a claim of any kind and they are very very good about protecting their buyers, especially when you use paypal.
The Saviar I'm bidding on is really cheap too - They retail for almost 3 Grand! The guy's selling a bunch of them so I'll post the link here if anybody's interested in a good purifier for cheap that offers some buyer protection. Plus its a very low maintanence system (the filter is washable).
