My experience with a vegetarian diet was that it had no effect on my drinking whatsoever. Other factors may come in to play, but the years I ate no meat, wheat, dairy were the same ones where my drinking really increased.

I added meat back in in moderation several months after I stopped drinking and have eaten in in the several years since, espeically during my pregnancy.
