Hi, I have had the same problem for over a week now, and so I did a lot of research and this is what I found:

Supposedly this is a fungal infection, so I went to Walgreen's to get antifungal cream. All I could find was creams for feet, which I didn't want to put on my face, so I bought the Neosporin Antifungal cream for jock itch. For three days I have been using a round cotton pad to clean the affected areas (the corners of my lips and the right side of my upper lip) with a toner that has alcohol in it to clean/disinfect/dry it up [WARNING - IT STINGS - if you are sensitive to pain, skip the toner step - or maybe use hydrogen peroxide, that might not burn so much.]

Then I use a new q-tip every time to out the cream on the q-tip, then with my mouth closed I use my tongue to gently push out the corners of my lips so that I can get the cream all over the little "paper-cut" shaped tears. I do it 3 times a day and by the end of the 2nd day, it was looking a lot better...the dead skin was all flaking off but the "paper cuts" didn't look nearly so deep.

I've also read that Miconazole is used to treat oral fungal infections, so if this doesn't clear up by the time I'm done with the Neosporin (and I'm halfway through the tube...I use a lot each time I guess) I am going to buy that next. This medicine can be found in Monistat (Walgreen's) which is used to clear up a vaginal yeast infection...just be sure to get the box that has the cream not the suppositories. it might be embarrassing to buy it, but I don't care...I'm more embarrassed walking around with these red corners of my lips.

Good luck...keep me posted on how you are doing and what does/doesn't work for you.
