That exercise is brilliant!
I have that book from Esther Hicks and I am familiar with this "game".  But you altered it to be so much better, in my opinion.

The reason the original didn't work for me was two reasons.  One, saying it in my head wasn't focus enough because I would get distracted with events around me.   And two, the original method WAS distracting!  How was the original distracting?  Because it was originally set up to say "Wouldn't it be nice if........"    The problem with that saying for me is because I kept getting that Beach Boys song in my head!!
So I would end up losing focus on what I wanted to focus on.
