Yes, take it right off the spoon. In the summer it liquifies and is a little easier to take, but it's still good in its solid state.

...or saute vegetables in it or blend it into smoothies. It's delicious blended into a pineapple smoothie.

You definitely want virgin - you'll probably need to go to a health food store or online to get that.
