I don't mean to offend you em-socal, but just going back and reading your first and last post, one sees an enormous change in tune.   This in and of itself is a red flag for most people on this board with a little life experience behind them.

Frankly, I'm always amazed by people who come in here asking for advice, and when they perceive that their situation has'changed', they downplay the advice they have received pertinent to the situation they originally described.

However you want to color your relationship on this particular day, you will go through a lot of indecisiveness and heart ache until you realize that this is not a healthy situation, no matter what excuses are made for his behavior.  Being involved with someone who acts ~stupid~ on such important dynamics is not a recepe for success.  As the old timers used to say, 'a chain is only as strong as its weakest link'. 

I truly hope you find a way to peace and hapiness in your life, with or without your present partner.
